On the Importance of Upstreaming

  • 30 minute talk

Many people and companies use Open Source and Free Software as part of whatever it is they do. However, many don't bother to send their changes upstream.

Why would you? Why wouldn't you? There's a bunch of reasons on either side of the fence. This talk will cover the arguments for and against, and aims to provide some talking points and discussion that will hopefully convince you (or allow you to convince others) why upstreaming your code, documentation, and anything else is a good thing, both for you and for the larger community.
