Bigger, Faster, Safer, Easier databases with MariaDB 10
- 30 minute talk
MariaDB is a drop-in replacement for MySQL, forked from the source code after Oracle bought MySQL. It has had some significant improvements over the last couple of years, especially with the current version 10.0.
Let's look at some of the newest features.
* TokuDB is a storage engine optimised for larger datasets, especially with heavy writing.
* Optimiser improvements make it go faster.
* Parallel replication lets the slave run as fast as the master.
* GUIDs make replication crash-safe and easier to change masters.
I talk about a few more features and refinements. (But not multi-source replication, nor Galera synchronous replication, because they will be in my other talk.)
